It is conducted to test the French Language proficiency of non-native speakers. This exam is administered by the International Centre for French Studies on behalf of France's Ministry of Education.

DELF Diploma is widely recognized in about 165 countries and valid for a lifetime. The independent certificates for each level correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). CEFR is a guideline produced by the Council of Europe after 12 years of research. Four language skills are assessed at each level: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
